My husband and I plan to ride across the country one of these days. Wyoming will definitely be on our route. It looks so amazing. Thank you once again. I wonder, when you started this site, did you think it would impact people in this way? Your story is so inspiring on so many levels. You have courage that most of us only have in our dreams.
These photos are so incredibly beautiful - it's as if each one were a once-in-a-lifetime shot. What an amazing blessing it is for you to have this experience and what a joy it is that you can share it with so many. Every day it is such a blessing in my life.
It is wonderful to have your daily current photographs in my e-mail every day and then to come here to see photos from the past. A happy way to start the day.
I have had an unexplained desire for many years to visit Montana but I think it's being overtaken by a wish to see Wyoming. :-) I wonder what's going on in Charlie's brain: does he know what a gift he is?
amazing color. I'm dreaming of the clay plaster this could make for my Michigan house. Michigan has black dirt; dig deep and you can find yellow clay, but I've never seen a lovely burnt sienna color like this one. I can understand how people become dirt collectors, LOL!
The husband and I (along with about 4-6 other friends) are buying retirement property in Wyoming... hours south of Shreve, Eli and Charlie... however, I love looking at the background in all of the pictures since that will be our summer home in a couple of years. You're the best!
Beautiful photo. For those of you who comment on visiting Wyoming, I have been fortunate enough to travel across the states by camper and motorcycle. I encourage everyone to do it. Seeing the landscape in photos or on TV is nothing like seeing them in person. You'll be overwhelmed from the beauty. Cathy in Washington
Awesome pic! I set it as the desktop on my classroom computer and my first graders said, "That's Charlie!!!" They love hearing about his adventures and seeing his pics. THANKS!!
:) Reminds me the old watching the sunset picture(http://bp2.blogger.com/_VSVn_14ZGDM/RyM3QoCzNSI/AAAAAAAAAdY/oMVzOja5nf8/s1600-h/lookingN2.jpg), when he was small:)
Thanks a billion for doing this site. I have been following for a while and yet to comment. It is an amazing thing to have a bond with something wild like Charlie. I have a similar experience going on a couple years with a fox that visits me. "Foxy". He eats from my hand, hangs around when I work on the property, will walk with me in the woods, sit and enjoy the morning sun as I drink coffee outside. Will come when called on occasion. He however remains mostly wild, and visits on his own terms. But all in all......it is an amazing thing, and I have ton's of pic's a video. I hope all works out well for you all there. I like your cat too!I'll be following along as long as you keep updating. Take Care
I have a request: Could you perhaps, maybe once in a while, take his picture next to a ruler, or a yardstick, or some item (truck tire?) that would give us an idea as to his size? I believe you when you say that he isn't as big as he looks in his pictures--but it's just that he looks so tall and long when there aren't objects nearby that help to determine his size.
Thanks much. Love the blog. I love what you're doing with Charlie.
I know there is alot of clamouring here for more recent pics, but this is a perfect example of why the 5 month lag is a good thing. a photo like this is just the boost I need on a cold, dreary winters day in Chicago.
I've ridden my motorcycle(s) across much of Wyoming and very much regret that my motorcycle trips have come to an end. I'd really like to go back again...
Give Charlie a scratch behind the ears for me please.
Amazing, Charlie body language seems to show that he's totally at peice with the world, and the life-style he's living. Do you have a photo album of gorgeous pictures like this?
One more thing, I've lived in Wyoming for many years, and when people hear that they ask why I live in such and ugly flat state. I explain to them that they have only traveld I-80. Going past the interstate they will see breathe taking sunsets and land that is some of the best. Your pictures are prove that Wyoming is the most beautiful state, you just haev to get past I-80
I have been enjoying keeping up with the Daily Coyote. A wonderful experience and thanks for sharing with the world. The photo you have of Charlie in the Snow on your "Subscribe" page is spectacular!
Beautiful shot! I love the gorgeous colors, but I was knocked out by the picture of Charlie in the snow! It's just so different from all the other pictures on the site, it is visually stunning!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure with all of us!
I too, live in Wyoming and commend you on your documentation...such a wonderful experience!! The photography is great and the story is one that shows your respect for our state's wide open spaces and it's creatures.
Wow. Living in a city, I can't even imagine how gorgeous it must be living over there. I love your website, and really enjoy watching Charlie grow up!!!!
This story, these sublime photos about your pup and your puss, have to be one of the loveliest wild&tame-life tales I've ever read. My niece (who has a dog named Wylie, who is a suspected coyote-cross), sent me your site, and I've been stunned, thrilled, awestruck by the sheer beauty of this creature which has come to live with you, and the fact that you are busy giving him such a wonderful home, as well as chronicling his growth and development with your exquisite images. I hope you are busy making a fabulous book deal, as well as planning to share your beautiful animals via greeting cards (as well as calendars). I hope you are managing to sustain life sufficiently, and will envision a long and healthy life for Charlie, Eli and you. Your gift of this blog is one that has given me a fuller and deeper appreciation for "God's Dog," as the Native Americans used to call the little wolf. May he grow up to bust open prejudice, bigotry and injustice in all whom he meets! Sincerely, and with love and delight, Cecilia Winston

I have to second Cecilia... I hope you are going to compile your photos into a book about this experience. Until then, your blog is in my Google RSS reader. I always save your posts as one of the last things I read, because I want your lovely photos to linger in my mind.
I just found your blog by way of www.dooce.com , and now have stayed up way too late to read everything and look at every single picture. I think what you are doing is so incredible. Charlie's a lucky coyote. And your pictures are beautiful. I will definitely be posting a link to your site in my blog so more people can read about your amazing journey thus far.
When I see a picture like that of the great expanse of Wyoming and the once little wolf you saved I wonder if it was fate that brought you and Charlie together? Who else but a photographer...
Amazing shot. How I would love it as the wallpaper on my laptop.
I do love coming here to read about the adventures the three of you share, but I do have a question.
The About Us section mentioned that you live in a town with 300 people. I can't imagine that there is anything that goes on in a town that small that everyone doesn't know about. How do the people in the town feel about you raising a coyote? Considering how people in that area feel about coyotes, I was wondering if there is any animosity towards you.
Greetings from Toronto... This is one of your more stunning photos (among many)... Do you have a professional photography background, or are you just naturally talented?
hi there! i'm a new reader, and i'm just chiming in to say i love your blog! your photos of charlie are stunning, but this one is my favorite. i'm a city gal from san francisco, but you sure do make life look charming:)
Hands down my favorite picture so far.... I check on Charlie and Eli almost everyday. Thanks so much for allowing us to share this experience with you. I've sent all my friends the link to your blog... and I suspect you're doing wonders for Wyoming tourism!
Truth be told, I think I'm a bit in love with Charlie. And Wyoming. :)

Wow, so colourful!
I want to go to Wyoming!
WOW, absolutely stunning, great photograph !!!!
Glorious... Yes, Wyoming definitely looks better than the urban sprawl I'm stuck in. Shreve, you are one lucky woman!

Greetings from Germany and best wishes to you all :-))
De-lurking to say that this picture makes me desperately wish it was June and time for our annual roadtrip across the country.
Absolutely beautiful.
This is, without a doubt, the most gorgeous picture you have put up yet.

The Wyoming tourism and visitors bureau ought to be paying you and Charlie. These photos are great PR for the them.

Just started following Charlie and the photos you have created. Very beautiful, enlightening and fun.
Will be checking in often!
I echo Susan's comment. Simply beautiful!
Wow! Charlie looks so content surveying his property! Beautiful.....
Makes me wanna be there, too!

Absolute stunning! Amazing! Beautiful! WOW !!!
That so needs to be turned into a computer wallpaper, calendar page, wall print, and so on. :D Beautiful!!!

I just watched the Charlie running video on youtube, and I just had to say what a beautiful creature he is! =)
Absolutely stunning shot, one of my favorites!!!
Charlie just needs a cowboy had and some little boots!
If you don't release a book of all your photos with Charlie and Wyoming, you're nuts.
Gosh, I wish I were there! I love looking at your site every day. It makes me very happy. (-:
Soooo much better than the fog and drizzle here in SF. I love your blog and come here every day.
Now that is one breathtaking image!

What a beautiful part of the world you live in. Stunning pic
This is beautiful!
I wish we could pick our favorite photos from your blog and design our own calendars. This picture is gorgeous.
Is that what you see outside your door? Oh my god... wow.
Oh, Charlie's looking very handsome as well.
Wow, that's a very good picture of Charlie AND your view.
Beautiful shot! I love the gorgeous colors, but I was knocked out by the picture of Charlie in the snow! It's just so different from all the other pictures on the site, it is visually stunning!

Oh! Whoah! Mo!
My favorite shot yet. Contextual. Contemplative. Makes you wonder what goes through Charlie's head amid so vast a landscape.
